New Strategic Advisory Committee to Guide Growth Area Advocacy

The National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) is proud to announce the newly elected members of its Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC), following a highly competitive nomination and election process.

The SAC plays a pivotal role in setting the strategic direction of the Alliance and guiding national policy and advocacy efforts on behalf of Australia’s outer metropolitan growth areas.

The members of the newly elected Strategic Advisory Committee are:

  • Cr Todd Carney, Mayor, Penrith City Council (NSW)
  • Cr Ashleigh Cagney, Mayor, Camden Council (NSW)
  • Mayor Glenn Docherty, City of Playford (SA)
  • Mayor David Leach, Mount Barker District Council (SA)
  • Cr Steve Abboushi, Mayor, Melton City Council (VIC)
  • Cr Ally Watson, Councillor, Hume City Council (VIC)
  • Mayor Terresa Lynes, City of Gosnells (WA)
  • Cr James Rowe, Deputy Mayor, City of Wanneroo (WA)

NGAA extends its sincere thanks to the outgoing SAC members for their leadership, insight and dedication over the past term. We also acknowledge and thank all the elected members who nominated for this year’s Committee - your ongoing commitment to the Alliance is deeply valued, and we look forward to your continued involvement in shaping our shared advocacy and research agenda.

This newly formed Strategic Advisory Committee brings together a dynamic and experienced group of elected leaders, united by a shared commitment to ensuring growth areas receive the recognition, investment, and long-term planning they deserve.

With deep local insight and a strong national perspective, this Committee will provide valuable leadership and direction for NGAA’s advocacy and strategic agenda in the years ahead.
