  • Salary Band 7 from $116,561 to $125,554 + Superannuation, monthly RDO for full-time 40-hour weeks

About the Role

This role leads NGAA’s communications to strengthen member engagement and elevate its profile across government, media and stakeholders nationwide, with flexible remote delivery.

Success is measured by a strong media presence, effective communications strategy, high-quality content and consistent internal communications that support advocacy and member engagement.

What You’ll deliver

  • This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role where you will take ownership of NGAA’s end-to-end communications function. Working closely with the CEO, you will lead the execution of a targeted communications program that strengthens NGAA’s national profile, supports advocacy priorities, and keeps members informed and engaged.
  • You will be responsible for translating strategy into action identifying media opportunities, shaping compelling narratives, and producing high-quality communications across multiple channels. This includes managing media relations, overseeing digital and social activity, and coordinating both internal and external communications to ensure consistency and impact.
  • A key part of the role is building and maintaining strong relationships with media and stakeholders, while proactively monitoring the external environment to position NGAA in relevant national and state conversations. You’ll also manage PR agency activity where required, ensuring outputs align with organisational priorities.
  • Internally, you will play a critical role in strengthening member engagement delivering regular newsletters and updates, supporting events and advocacy initiatives, and ensuring clear, consistent communication across the membership.
  • This role suits someone who enjoys both strategy and execution able to operate autonomously, prioritise effectively, and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.

What You’ll Bring

  • Relevant degree in Communications or similar field
  • 3–5 years’ experience across media, digital and content delivery
  • Strong understanding of political advocacy and the Australian federal landscape
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate across stakeholders and remote teams
  • Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel interstate when required
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check
