Shortlist Announced for the 2025 NGAA Annual Awards

The National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) is pleased to announce the shortlist for the 2025 NGAA Annual Awards, recognising excellence in leadership, innovation, and service delivery across Australia’s fastest-growing outer metropolitan communities.

21 councils from five states have been shortlisted across six award categories, highlighting the breadth of expertise and commitment to creating sustainable, connected and thriving communities in growth areas.

The NGAA Annual Awards celebrate local governments that are delivering real outcomes for residents in Australia’s outer suburbs - where more than five million people live, work and raise their families. This year’s shortlist showcases outstanding achievements in transformative infrastructure, community activation, advocacy, strategic foresight, collaboration, and leadership.

The shortlisted councils represent a diverse range of communities and projects, from large-scale infrastructure initiatives to place-based programs improving local wellbeing. Several councils have been recognised across multiple categories, reflecting their continued leadership in driving innovation and equitable outcomes for growth area residents.

Award winners will be announced at the NGAA Annual Awards Ceremony, to be held at Parliament House, Canberra, on 26 November 2025.
