Advocacy and Representation
The NGAA will continue to undertake a range of
activities to support the work and position of its
member councils. Activities may include specific
issue based campaigns either as the NGAA or in
partnership with other bodies where appropriate.
Networking and Professional Development
The NGAA will develop training and professional
development opportunities for Council staff. The
NGAA represents an opportunity for growth area
Councils and communities across Australia to share
information and experience regarding specific growth
area issues, such as strategic planning, service
planning and delivery models.
Further research opportunities
New research opportunities are emerging and this is
an area that the NGAA will encourage in partnership
with suitable tertiary institutions, government
departments and NGOs. Clearly there is range of
issues, often highly integrated in the area of social
and environment sustainability that are of critical
importance to way the NGAA areas of metropolitan
capitals develop. Making Australia more sustainable
depends on what can be achieved in the rapidly
developing edges of our cities.
